2023: What to Expect

Updated: Nov 20, 2022

Today is 31 October, 2022 and I am just about healed and ready to get back into the wild. There is still quite a bit of debate going on as to whether I should wait until after Christmas or leave within the next few weeks; It would be nice to spend the holidays here with my family, however, I am getting anxious and have spent more than enough time at home.

The plan for this upcoming trip is to make it to “The End of the World” by any means other than aircraft. You might be thinking “Wait, you’re not going to fly at all? Why not, and how are you going to get there then?” The answer is that I plan on flying home at the end of the journey but as far as getting there goes, the primary means of travel will be by bus and train. The reasoning behind not wanting to fly can be summed up in just one word: stubbornness. You see, I take a lot of pride in the fact that I have jumped out of more aircrafts than I have landed in; however, those numbers are catching up as it has been a couple years since my last skydive so until I get a few more in, flying will be limited.

Leaving from Connecticut, the first stretch of the trip will be done via train all the way to Houston, Texas… Woah woah woahUPDATE: 7 November 2022 - I’m not taking a god damn train from Connecticut to Houston. “Forget” all that, according to Google, it would take about fifty three hours and that’s excluding transfers; plus I’ve already been to every state between here and Texas so it’s not like I’d be covering new ground. We need to update our railway system here in America ASAP; just dig tunnels underground, throw high speed rails or a hyperloop in there and walla, we’ve got a major upgrade to our infrastructure... Anyways, perhaps flying from Hartford to Mexico City would be a better option and this way it’ll give me an excuse to go on some sort of skydiving binge at a later date.

In case you’re unaware, “The End of the World” refers to a port city in Argentina known as Ushuaia. This is the southernmost city on Earth and considered to be a gateway to Antarctica due to its proximity so taking a boat over there would be nice but we’ll see what happens. As you can see just from this typo alone, I'm still learning that you shouldn’t be too open when discussing plans because things always change. For all I know, I may decide to just post up in Costa Rica for the entire time (I have to be back in New England for July no matter what though).

The main purpose behind taking this trip is to promote my website, expand my network and hopefully start implementing at least one of the projects featured on this site (I.e- Cloud Seeding, The Farm Computer, Willy’s Worms, etc.). Best case scenario, by the time we even reach the End of the World, there will already be enough awareness and momentum behind The Great Progression Plan to where I’d have a team in place, come back home and get right to work. I thought about doing a GoFundMe or some sort of crowdfunding campaign because incinerators are fairly expensive but that just doesn’t sit well with me for some reason.

Besides, this will be the first time I’ve gone public with any of my work or plans for the future so I’d like to get some feedback first. This is a bit nerve wracking to some degree because obviously there is no telling what to expect or how people will react; there’s only one way to find out, right? No one wants to look like a fool at the end of the day but I’ve spent enough time reading and researching to feel confident about going forward with these plans despite their complexities. I know that they can be done, I know that they will greatly improve communities and I don’t want to live my life looking back and thinking “could have, should have, would have” so 2023 is the year to ***start*** making things happen.

One of our goals within the next two years is to settle down somewhere for a longer period of time and get the first farm up and running as well as my body back in shape. I’ve lost damn near twenty pounds (9.07 kgs) since July of 2021 and am already a fairly small person as is so once I'm settled in, diet and exercise will certainly be a priority. It’s difficult to build habits while you’re on the move alot and with exercise, you need a routine or consistency at the very least, otherwise you’re literally doing more harm to your body than good so I definitely look forward to getting my size and strength back.

What I like most about what I’ve got going on right now is that I am completely mobile (this is perhaps the most undervalued form of freedom in my opinion). All of my work can be done on the move as the products in my shop are either e-books, print on demand or dropship goods. This means that I hold no physical inventory so there is nothing tying me to a single location at the end of the day. If I do not like an area, I can simply pack up all my belongings and move on to the next. This form of freedom is not something that I want to give up and it makes me hesitant to buy property or settle down, however, it will be necessary to do so whenever the time comes of course. Where or when this will be exactly? That’s still to be determined; Connecticut undoubtedly offers the highest probability of success in terms of getting The Great Progression Plan to reach its full potential but as you’ll see, it can be implemented in any community so we’ll make that decision down the road.

All in all, 2023 should be a good year. 2022 was a bit of a let down due to a few reasons (losing my boonie hat in Hua Hin, one of my lifelong friends died and of course the motor bike accident) and that's not ok. The Tater Train ain’t gettin’ stopped this time around. We need to make up for these losses so we’re gonna come out swinging in January by checking out some cool places and seeing some cool stuff while on our way to The End of the World (i.e - Volcanos, sloths, Macho Pikachu, Patagonia, etc.). Since I have to be back in the United States for July, what we do or where we head after that is still to be determined so until then, we’re just gonna do our best to enjoy the ride and promote our plans as best as we can.
